Apple has threatened to shut down itunes if royalty rates for the song publishers are increased.

1.  Apple has an estimated 85% of the market share for digital music sales.

2.  Last year digital music sales rose 46% to 1.2 BILLION DOLLARS.

3.  Apple states that profits from itunes are too slim to allow any change without the increase of song prices.  Probably because it's itunes and the ipods that keep the entire company in the black and is supporting the rest of the company's operations.  I am sure of this, because if they were actually putting the profits back into itunes for improvement and R&D the would actually have software that wasn't such a slow, dreadful piece of complete garbage.  I try every update to itunes.  Every time I open it up I want to kick myself in the face.

5.  Apple states that an increase in the prices will cause a lower number of songs to be purchased.  Wow, you greedy fucks.  Are you serious?  The market increased by almost 50% just last year and you are crying about not wanting to lose market?

For Pete's sake, when are the actual recording artists going to get their heads out of their asses and group together to form their own company for digital distribution and cut the rest of these leaches off?
