Default ID Prefix:  Enter a "prefix" of characters in this field.  Many people use their initials or an abbreviation for their company.  The data in this field is used as a prefix for system generated animal id's when a "new" animal is entered in the system.  This field is also used as a control segment when the system generates a clutch id.

Next ID Number:  This number increments each time a new animal is entered to the system using the system generated id.

Please note that these fields do NOT reflect any segments in the generation of hatchling id's from a clutch in the system.
