To create a new rack in the system select "New Rack" from the "File" menu.
Enter a Rack id to identify the rack in the system. This must be unique for each rack you enter. Next, enter the number of columns and rows that the rack contains. As you change the number of columns and rows, the rack layout will change on screen. Bins may or may not be numbered at this point depending on whether there was a rack being viewed prior to the creation of this new rack. This is normal. When you have the correct number of columns and rows, click the "Create Rack" button.
Once the "Create Rack" button is clicked, you will see the completed rack and its statistics. At this point you will see all of the bins in the rack and the maintenance operations that have been initialized.
Now that your rack is created you may place animals in the rack. Right click on a bin to enter an animal id.
Click the "Place Animal in Bin" menu item to locate the animal you wish to select. This will bring up the Rack Find screen. You may sort the rack find screen by id or name of the animals and you may filter it by species. Double Click on the desired animal record to place that animal in the bin.
Repeat the process for adding animals to the rack for your desired layout. Only one animal can be placed in a bin. You may also view and change animal's rack locations in the main screen once you have racks created. |
